We are living through an incredibly scary time. A pandemic is changing every part of our lives. We are all realizing the importance of health.
But COVID-19 isn’t the first health crisis the U.S. has dealt with in our lifetime.
There has been another health crisis developing in the U.S. over the last few decades. It is one that can make an infection like COVID-19 much deadlier.
We’re talking about obesity.
Here are some important facts from the CDC:

- The estimated annual medical cost of obesity in the United States was $147 billion in 2008 US dollars; the medical cost for people who have obesity was $1,429 higher than those of normal weight. [Read paperexternal icon]
This epidemic is incredibly scary. Obesity has been directly linked to:
- Type 2 Diabetes
- High Blood Pressure
- Coronary Heart Disease
- Stroke
- Cancer
- Sleep Apnea
- Fatty Liver Disease
- Pregnancy Complications
- Depression
- Anxiety
And the list just keeps going..
So what is the solution? Do we need to quarantine? Wear a face mask? Those things may help you with COVID-19, but hey won’t help you with obesity.
It’s time to take your nutrition and health seriously. It’s time to adopt a healthy diet and an exercise routine that works.
