This week we are proud to announce Brett C. as our Athlete of the Week. Not only are we thankful for him as a member at Sycamore CrossFit, but also for his service to our country. General George S. Patton motivated his men when he said, “Accept the challenges so that you can feel the exhilaration of victory.” This quote not only embodies the mindset of the Army, but also Brett’s experience with CrossFit. Brett is a regular with the 5:30 AM group taking each class on as a new challenge. This attitude helps him see the victories, big or small, in each movement he accomplishes for the day. Because of his ability to look past obstacles, Brett has accomplished some impressive PRs this month! He added 30 lbs to his deadlift for a 285 lb PR, as well as 40 lbs to his split squat for a 145 lb PR! Great month Brett! You are making improvements everyday without a doubt, and we are happy you have found some of the same comradery you have missed since your time in the Army. Hooah!

Not sure but I’m happy I’m here.

I’d like to get double-unders, and pull-ups, and lastly improve my handstands because they’re my 3 years old’s favorite.
Long-term training goal?
Long term I feel as though my cardio and diet is a weakness, however, I hate cardio and I love to eat so it’s kind of a conundrum.
What is your favorite movement?
Favorite movement is probably ring rows, I know it’s simple but for me it feels great.
What is your least favorite movement?
Least favorite would be the overhead squat, but I’m getting better every time I do them.
Proudest moment in CrossFit so far?
I’m not sure I have a specific proud moment but I am happy every time I complete a workout within the allotted time, because 6 months ago I couldn’t finish any workouts.

No real obstacle, I feel like everyone is welcoming and I enjoy the mornings at CrossFit.
What kept you coming back?
Fitness really, I feel like I’m making improvements every day which keeps me coming back.

Why Not??
