Why did you choose Sycamore CrossFit? Why do you keep coming back?
I was very unhealthy. Tried everything but had always been intrigued by CrossFit. Figured I really need someone and somewhere that would tell me what I needed to do. All I had to do was show up.
There is absolutely nothing that compares to Sycamore CrossFit. Environment. Culture. Support. Community. Family. Passion. All of this and even more wrapped into one mission: helping others live healthier, longer lives.
What’s your best story about the gym?
Watching Coach Eric and Coach Carl take turns pushing a sled with 720# of plates (plus the weight of the sled) across 30+ feet of loose turf. There is video proof!!
What advice would you give to the person you were a year ago?
Stay committed. Stay hungry. Try harder. Work smarter. Just don’t quit.
What accomplishment at the gym or in your nutrition are you the most proud of?
I had a health scare in early November 2019, an unprovoked DVT behind my left knee. Basically, I was told to “be careful” but nothing strenuous and take a blood thinner. Several other tests and no other solutions from medical professionals later, it was either take a chance of dying while “being careful,” or get back to training. Four days later, I returned to SCF seeking to push boundaries. Additionally, I changed to plant-based nutrition (yes, I am vegan 🌱 now) in February 2020. I have lost 30 pounds while becoming stronger with several training PRs since February 12 and incurring an emergency appendectomy in May. No sign of the DVT and have been off of the medication since April.
