Why did you choose Sycamore CrossFit? Why do you keep coming back?
For me, it is the accountability factor and by that it is more than just having coaches push you to do more. Everyone at the gym genuinely cares about one another and celebrates everyone’s success, both in the gym and in life! With that type of environment, it is hard not to show up and give it your all and there’s days when you just need that encouragement.
What’s your best story about the gym?
My favorite story is when we were working on handstands and another member was a little nervous “flipping” into the wall. I was trying to tell them not to be nervous because it wasn’t like they were going to go through the wall and then went to show them and my heel went right through the wall. We all could not stop laughing and there was a patch mark for a long time. And now, if you look at it in the right light, you can still see it and it makes me laugh every single time!
What advice would you give to the person you were a year ago?
To myself and honestly to anyone, show up and do you. There will always be someone faster, stronger, more flexible, but really focus on doing the best that you can give that day in that moment. There are times when you may not be able to Rx a work-out, but if you give it your all and best effort, that is Rx’ing the work-out.
What accomplishment at the gym or in your nutrition are you the most proud of?
Having my son join SCF this summer. For me, it is a huge motivator to have him there to push me, but also, I am so incredibly proud of him pushing himself outside of his comfort zone to do CrossFit. Our 3 classes a week together is time a cherish and will always be fond of!
