Why did you choose Sycamore CrossFit? Why do you keep coming back?
What's your best story about the gym?
While I have memorable experiences such as participating in Friday Night Lights or Murph years ago, my best story now is the unwavering acceptance of the coaches and members. Coming to terms with the idea that you cannot hide or perform movements at the desired level is hard for an extroverted introvert perfectionist …the best part is that one cannot hide …Every class time, every day someone smiles, says hi, or cheers for you and helps you to become a better version of you.
What advice would you give to the person you were a year ago?
Mindset and belief in self are game changers. Having a strong mindset will help you overcome fears and help your body become stronger. Change is good – adapt and thrive. It is okay to prioritize you..no need to let guilt plague that stronger mindset…your kids will value seeing that more than you ever knew, and they will cheer you on too!
What accomplishment at the gym or in your nutrition are you the most proud of?
I am newly back to CrossFit. I came back with the mindset to face my fears. I hindered my ability to progress before because my feet had to stay on the ground, and “I can’t” thrived. I never really put forth an effort on movements that I was afraid of but I am really proud because now I am trying everything because simply put, I can.
