Athlete of the Week – Lynne Johnson

This week’s Athlete of the Week goes to Lynne J! Not only was she nominated by our coaches, but also by a fellow athlete in the noon class! This is quite an honor, and if you know Lynne you know why she earned this kind of attention. She rarely misses class, is always up for giving the workout her very best, has a great attitude, is very easy to coach and provides non-stop entertainment. If you have never dropped in for a noon class, you’re missing a workout and a show. If I have learned one thing from a noon workout, it’s that if you ever have a partner rowing situation, you definitely want Lynne on your team. This lady can row like there’s no tomorrow. She is also an athlete that regularly uses her functional fitness skills outside the gym. It is always fun to hear the latest home improvement or moving adventure and all the things she is able to accomplish. Her most recent PR was hit in May when she added 15 lbs to her 1×1 deadlift for a high of 213 lbs. Well done Lynne! We are so glad you joined our family!

Biking, socializing and lately…home improvement projects.

Keep going to the gym regularly.

Long-term training goal?

Keep going to the gym regularly, stay active and try not to be an old person.

What was your biggest obstacle to starting CrossFit and how did you overcome that?

I am a chicken. You have to start somewhere and this is a great environment to start from the bottom and get better.

What kept you coming back?

Great coaches, staff and members. There are many things I cannot do at the gym, but there is a lot I can do. The coaches always have options to get a great workout. I also need to be at a gym where someone tells me what todo. What more can you ask for? I come to the gym for a great workout. I always get one!

Your advice for someone considering starting CrossFit?

Give it a try. You will see all different types at the gym. There are no mean people here except for Jeff. A lot of the things that the athletes at this gym can do is amazing, it is very inspiring. They do not give themselves enough kudos.

How has Sycamore CrossFit changed your life?

It has made me stronger, helped me have better endurance and less flabby. I have also met some great people.
